Help pick an amplifier.

Hello! The system I'm installing will be my first and to be honest I am completely lost. I want to install two 12" kenwood subwoofers.Handles up to 1000W peak power (250W RMS). Model: KFC-W12PS Kenwood- Performance Series 12" Single-Voice-Coil 4-Ohm Subwoofer. I am lost on what amplifier to buy to power these. Should I get a mono amp? What kind of wiring should I do? I don't want to pay more then 200 dollars for the amplifier. Thank you in advance for your help! It is much appreciated!

Well typically if you run subs you would want to buy a Mono amp but you have low RMS rated subs so you could go with a bridgable 2 channel amp and bridge it(make 2 channel into 1 sub channel). Find an amp that matches your subs rms or a bit higher but don't over do it or you can kiss your subs goodbye. For the amount of money you want to spend on a amp, you really have to look around when you find one in your $ range then google it and see what kind of reviews it gets and go from there. Hope this helps :)

for more info, you have 2 4 ohm subs, so if they are wires in parallel you will have a 2 ohm load. you want an amp that puts out 500-800 watts at 2 ohms. you need to take into account about $50 for wiring and if you need it installed them add another $35-$50.

Are the subs in a box? that will be another cost.

So is $200 for just the amp and you have other money budgeted for the wiring and install? I wouldnt waste the money on a $100-$150 amp. It will either blow out or you wont be happy with it, spending more money in a few months on another amp. Just wait and save up to get a more decent amp. with a $300-$400 budget for an amp there are lots of really good options.

VWDude is right and I assumed your subs were or are going in a box. I didn't want to start confusing you with ohms ect..seems how your installing it yourself. Best thing to do as a noobie is to go into a place that sells car stereos ect..and do installs.Mabey like futureshop,Bestbuy where they sell amps ect.. and ask some questions I'm sure they will direct you in the right direction without confusing you. I am not a pro on the subject but I have and do all my stereo installs and when I have problems I google it and always find my answers. Good luck :)
