Ok, heres my issue, i have a 91 chev K2500Hd truck, that i had a pioneer DEH-p6500 in before, it lasted 3 days and would not power up again, no matter what i tried, even straight of a battery. So i put my Pioneer Deh-P940mp in and same thing, it last a few days and cuput, no worky. I cannot find ryhme or reason as to why they both would quit working. I had a panasonic deck in before the two and had no problems at all.
I was wondering if they have an internal fuse or what i could look for or try to get them to work again. Thank you for looking, any info is MUCH APPREICIATED Thanks Trevor [ July 30, 2004, 09:51 PM: Message edited by: Spike7ss ] |
check deck fuse, and radio fuse for your vehicle.
i've found either of these two to be the culprits on some of my customers vehicles. |
fuses all good

Hey Spike,
I'm not sure if your problem was solved or not but I would suggest a couple things. Do you have any other components in the system (amplifiers, etc.)? If so, make sure there are no open power or ground connections that could feedback through the electrical system. Also, put a meter on your alternator to see what sort of voltage it's putting out. If it spikes for a short time it could've bypassed the fuse & burned the power supply section of the head units. Good luck! |
as i recall pioneer puts a small resitor on the acc. lead into the deck( in a little grey plastic housing)seems to always fail. ive never rec`d a straight answer as to what its for. but removing it always fixes the problem. never seen one of them come back with other compliants of any kind.good luck

back again. got a straight answer this time. the resister is a votage spike protector for the transtorized turn on curcuit.try replacing the resistor first.

i ended up taking it to a stereo shop, had enough messing around with it and it was driveing me crazy, ill pick it up on monday and tell all what was the problem.
Thank you so much for your insight. |
Well they told me that its over 400 bux a piece to get them fixed, it is the board that is gone so now i have 2 died decks.
