HELP, Questions about Wiring and Sub
 

First post here, so if I am missing any details I apologize.

My current setup includes:

Head Unit - JVC KW-NT500HDT
Front Door Speakers - Alpine SPR-60 6.5" Type-R
Rear Door Speakers - Alpine SPS-410 4" Type-S
Amp - Hifonics ZRX1000.4 1000 watt peak power, Class A/B, 2/3/4 channel.
Cadence 2 Farad Capacitor.

I was very limited in speaker options due to weird sizes of Subaru WRX.

My main question is about adding a sub. I have the amp and capacitor already mounted on a custom rack and really do not want to change it. Is it possible to parallel wire the four speakers to channel 1/2 and then bridge channel 3/4 and wire the sub to that?

I am also not sure what type of sub to go with? I am leaning towards an Alpine type R 12" as I know this will fit in the box I have. But I am not sure If I should go with 2 or 4 ohms, and if I should go with single or dual voice coils, also what power level it should be?

Any advice would be extremely appreciated as I am not too knowledgeable when it gets into the fine details of things.

Yes you can run the 4 speakers on ch 1/2. (If it was me I would just run the front speakers and forget about the rears).

With regards to sub, if you bridge ch 3/4 then you will have 500 watts rms with a minimum impedance of 4 ohms to run the sub, hence, it could be either a dual 2 ohm wired in series or a single 4 ohm.

Thanks you so much for that info, I think I will go ahead and forget the rears, would the HU be able to power them if I went that route?

Its a really reasonable price I would say?

Does the jumper wire need to be any specific length for wiring it in series? Also, what gauge wire would you recommend using?

Run the front speakers and the sub off the amp, like has been said.

Run the rear speakers off deck power.

Comes down to personal preference if you want rear speakers or not. I like having rear fill myself.

Yeah I think I will go ahead and run the rears off the head unit, might as well use them since I have them.

I have never really tuned a system before, I think I have it running decently now, but once the sub is thrown into the mix It will be over my head, any suggestions?

By the way, how big did you stroke that LT1 out to? I had a camaro 97 camaro with the LT1 6 speed combo, until I bought my GTO (LS2)...was definitely a fun car though!

And yes, as stated above, you can run the rears of the hu power.

My LT1 is a 383 now. It doesn't get much use anymore. I picked up a 2009 Z06 a year and a half ago and that gets all my attention now! :)

A buddy of mine is hunting for a GTO at the moment. Very nice cars to mod!

Wonderful, Thank you so much for the help!! Is tuning the system complicated? There is a pretty reputable shop here in town, that may do it for me. Is it worth taking to them once I have it all installed?

No problem.
In this case tuning is not complicated, if you are installing it your self then tune it your self, or at least try, if you cant get it right, then you can take it to the shop.
