hey new to car audio, just got a system little advice please!

Hey I just purchased a brand new system from stereo plus and its going to be installed into my 2004 grand am tuesday. the car is bone stock but Im having the following installed.

-Kenwood deck
-8 gauge wireing
-Kenwood KAC-8104D power amp 1000w
-Kicker 12" comp series 07VC12
-kicker Single comp ported box

all brand new and installed for $865.50

should this be a good way to start off? will I notice it? will it be louder than my buds single non ported 10" with a 600w amp?

thanks for the info in advance!

not to bad i would like to see at least a 4ga wireing but enjoy your new system

Agreed, the 8 ga will need to be replaced in the future... especially since your going to eventually want a good 4ch to power your highs. 1000rms on a ported 12" will drown out your factory highs quite easily when powered by the deck. I'd recommend running 4ga too. Maybe you can call the shop and have the wiring kit upgraded before its too late. :dunno:

Otherwise looks like your off to a good start.

its gettin installed tuesday comming up. I will defenetly switch wireing. the amp is 1000 max and only 300w RMS.

so with the 4 guage it should handle a second amp in the futur along with a second sub? and will this amp be enough?

It will do 500 rms into 2 ohms, 300 @ 4 ohms. Do you know how many ohms the sub is your buying? Make sure they are selling you a 4 ohm sub. If it's a 4 ohm sub, you can buy another later. :) Then the amp will produce 500 rms into the 2 subs @ 2 ohms. 4 ga wire will do for a 4ch and your 2 ch. Should sound pretty good. I was mistaken on which amp it was.... lol

will this setup be satifying? I got the stock system in my car and im almost happy with it just looking for a mild increas in base. and I want to have a bit for the times I need to crank it up! will I be able to hear my base outside the car with this setup? thats all im worried about. im scared this sub/amp combo was not worth it for the gains I will see? was it a good deal for $865.50 installed?

If you are going to keep just one sub than I would suggest a dual 4 ohm so you can get 500 watts out of that amp. I would get the next step up from kicker and get 1 comp vr dual 4 ohm and that should be a good match for you.

Bandit47 09-17-2009 12:19 PM

well I kinda already made a down payment on my setup. is there anything that will not work with the things I have purchased? will I get good base out of it?

Bandit47 09-17-2009 12:20 PM

I put an 800 dollar down on it today. and switched to 4 gauge wireing
