Hi/LO Converter help
 

Good day All

I have just installed my car sound, and kept my stock radio and in turn installed a HI/LO Converter.
I was told that I can only put either the back speakers or the front speakers on the HI/LO converter and my amp. I have in turn decided to put the back speakers on the amp.
I have put in good quality mids in the back doors, and plan to put the same ones in the front.

Would it be possible to hook up the front speakers also the the HI/LO and in turn the amp?

I have a 4 channel 4000 watt amp.

The signal you want to convert needs to contain the frequencies you need for your new speakers. In stock systems, the speakers may actually have been crossed over or altered by the oem amplifier. It's important to know what the signal is you're converting. If in your case the front or rear speakers are full range, then it doesn't matter which one you use to take the signal from. They'll both be the same. If the rears are set up for bass (a small subwoofer etc..) then the signal will be only what's going to them. Another thing to consider is how much power is going to those oem speakers, if it's amplified, you may need a high power converter. I recently ran into this problem as the amplified bass signal from my stock subwoofer overpowered and fried the high level input of my amp. I suggest the Zapco asp-oeb converter, great unit that handles a lot of power. Once you have it hooked up you can use the rca outputs to send the signal to your amp, most 4 channel amps have a switch to use the rca signal input for all the channels. The other option is to send the signal to an outboard crossover and split the signal to front, rear, sub, etc...
