By time i'm done building my stereo i plan to have a PG M25 M44 and an M100 (i love the clean power of those amps). I have a 305 Chev 4x4 extended cab truck, with which i believe has a 100amp altinator.

Will a Capacitor be all i need or will i need to drop a bigger altinator in? The truck must remain reliable. TIA,

Considering the power you are running I don't think you need either really.

If you like to play with the key off, try an Optima Yellow battery.

upgrade the battery first,if you still have voltage issues, upgrade your alt.
those three amplifiers will most likely draw more than 100 amps when full out. it just depends on your listening habits, and type of music.

..and that doesn't leave much room to operate lights/heater/accesories.

Looking at the online owner manuals, the M100 can draw up to 70 amps alone. I'm just worried the amps will overwork my altinator and it'll let me down (somewhere in the middle of nowhere).

Thanks for all your great reply's. I know i'll be worried about pushing my stereo unless i do an upgrade to the altinator. I saw a reconditioned 200amp on Ebay. It is roughly 210usd shipped to Canada via USPS, by time i get it here it shouldn't cost more than about 280cad(i'd rather by in Canada, but local dealers want at least twice that amount!).

Loud Brown knows his stuff.. so I wouldn't discount his response....

Provided you listen to music.. you only have to worry about a duty cycle that approaches 30%... TOPS....

More power never hurts, but Id get a nice batt first and worry about the alternator later...

x2 with Dukk.

When the car is running, your system operates off of the alternator... Most domestic cars have enough alternator power for a "modest" system. An alternator would improve a system more than a capacitor -- capacitors do improve systems though.

The 1F cans have something to offer... but for the price of em they usually arn't worth it IMO...
