High sensitivity subs?
#11
^^^ harmon kardon rates their sensitivity at 2.83v per meter, and other manufactuers rate a subs sensitivty at 1 watt per meter. If the sensitivity was taken for this sub @ 8 ohms and is lowered to a lower impedence then sensitivity will be less then the norm of 1 watt? meter.

Ok, that works for me, since I really do just need to know what'll work well in a small sealed enclosure with limited power. I just figured sensitivity was a good place to start since my old subs were up there in sensitivity and pounded with 100ish watts, but they were also in a large ported enclosure.
I didn't realize that more sensitive subs required larger enclosures to perform properly...looks like I learned something today

But to paraphrase:
- Low-frequency capability
- Box size
- Efficiency
Cheers!

Unfortunately I already know that with a small sealed enclosure I'm never going to get the really low bass like I had with my previous setup, but I really want to give myself a little more oomph. Right now the stock system has an 8" sub getting 100wrms in a small sealed enclosure. I figure by going up to a 10 or a beefier 8 I should gain at least a little more bottom end, even with roughly the same power. For the moment I plan to keep the stock 8 running as well as whatever I add, though I'll yank it if I have cancellation issues.
And this is all temporary anyway, the final plan is to shoehorn a ported 12 under those back seats along with a bigger amp, as well as yanking the stock sub out.
Again, thanks for all the help
