hooking up two amps to one sub

Just wondering how one would go about this, would you just run the +/- of both amps to the sub? how would you work out the Load(s) ? or if someone knows a website that might explain this that would also help

Thanks.

are these class D amps of same make/model?

is it a dual coil sub?

if the answer to the first question is YES, then you can probably strap the 2 amps to act as one.

if the answer to the second question is YES, then you can run an amp to each coil.

if the answer to both questions is NO, then you need a device called Maxxlink which is made by Hifonics.

you could do as you described as well, that requires some seriouse level matching and is asking for trouble really.

Bro you need to tell us more about the amp and the sub. Who makes this amp. Is it strappable? I've never heard of it.

I've never used any Alpine gear 'cept for the decks, love those decks.

it's the small little square one's which can be stacked on top of each other. They are strappable. The sub is a dual voice coil sub. He can stap the subs to the sub or he can be brave and strap each amp to each voice coil. Personally I would go with the first option of strapping the amps together and running the sub off the pair.

The pdx amps are NOT strappable, however they make the same power at 4 ohms as they do at 2 ohms, so just put 1 amp per voice coil, gain match with a dmm and whomp that JL! You may blow that sub though, as you will be feeding it at least 2000 watts continuous.

not trying to hijack this post but i have a similar problem. A DD 3512 dual 4ohm and two (well will be two tomorrow) kac x10d's. I know you have to use the rca's and setting te slave and master but what about the speaker wire?? Right now I just have te one set leading into the box, do i have to run to each voice coil or do teh amps link up some how?
