I may have missed a post, but does anybody know what's going on with it?

It seemed when the list of installers was announced in November, that everybody was interested in it.

Now...nothing

Just got off the phone with Matthews wife.

Team Canada won:
Best Install
Best SQ
Highest SPL

Team USA won:
best Teamwork

As expected, we kicked ass!

I'll talk to Matt in the next couple days, and I am sure he'll be on here this week with stories from the event.

Took a flight home with one of the judges. He said there were two Canadian and two US judges and they all unanamously decided on the Canadiands. Fit and finish was far superior than the US. I didnt have a chance to see the comp but congrats to the fellow Canucks

TomK 01-12-2004 07:54 AM

I saw it and took some pictures as I dropped by almost every morning. On the last morning I think the Cannucks were having head unit issues but I guess they got that resolved.

Congrats to an excellent job by all those guys. It was awesome. I wish we didn't have to fly out so early so I could have been there when they won though. Anyways, I think Matt was saying something about picking up a new line based on the stuff they gave them to use............. overheard him mumbling that yesterday morning.........mumbling or was it grumbling :D

As one of the judges, here's the official word... SQ and Install - Team Canada. SPL and Teamwork - Team Hardcore USA.

Team Canada's install was OFF THE HOOK !!!!!!!!!!

One Installer Challenge competitor from Spring Break last year told our guys that he was glad they weren't at Spring Break because Team Canada would have kicked their asses !

Short description of Team Canada's install... Amp rack and sub enclosure did not have one straight panel- everything was curved ! AND symmetrical !!! DEFINITELY eye candy Underbody neon kit; they used a plasma cutter on the running boards to mount the long tubes in them ! How's that for cool ! Focal logos for speaker grilles, Saturn logo embedded in the vinyl, center channel, satellite radio controller mounted in the center console, tweets in the A pillars, mids in the doors, staging was awesome, neons and strobes under the amps, NOS bottle in the rear quarter panel, etc, etc, etc...

I have tons of pics and as soon as I get organized I will post them.

Judges were - from the USA, Billy Brown and Nelson Rivera. From Canada, Jason Gay (icebird88) and myself.

The team worked like they had worked together all their lives, no incidents or issues and they were so smooooooootttttttthhhhhhh. It was amazing watching them in action.

CONGRATULATIONS TEAM CANADA !!!

I have picts of both installs, I'll e-mail them to wade and see if he will post them, there day 2 and final day..

I knew the canadians would get it for fit and finish, it was done so well, had to see it in person really to understand the lengths they went to to make it perfect.

Nothing has made me happier than hearing that Canada was sending a team to compete in the Installer challenge and that one of my good friends was on the team.

I don't know any of the other members, but from what Matt told me, they worked very well together, and all shared a similar vision. Matt was most impressed by the way they all rallied together to overcome any obstacles or problems. I respect Matts opinion, so these guys make my A-list!

I hope that I have the chance to meet some of the other team members in the future and of course see some of their work.

Though I was stuck on my couch at home, I want to publically thank Larry and Phil from Karz Electronics for putting together a phenominal team. Only with their nationwide exposure to talent could they have come up with such a great selection. Something my region-limited exposure couldn't match!

I also want to thank everyone here and at CES for supporting the teams. And last, but certainly not least, thanks to Select products and all the supporting manufacturers for making the event happen.

Way to go Canada, you made us proud!

Mxflyboy 01-14-2004 12:20 PM

"Experience of a lifetime" is the best way I can express my feelings for this event. It's hard to put into words how positive the whole installer challenge was. From the incredible amount of amazing people we met to the overwhelming support they had for us. Believe me when I tell you, we had more support from the US spectators than the US team did!

As for the teamwork aspect, we worked together like we had been together for 10 years. Each one of us brought certain skills that when combined, we were able to overcome any obstacle. When one of us got stuck, every one of us dropped what we were doing for a brainstorm session. When all of us were stuck, one person would always have a solution.

I've got more to say about but I don't want to start babbling. I'm sure the rest of the team will be here soon.

On behalf of the team, I'd like to thank all of those who supported us, at the show or from their couch at home.

Thanks,

Tyler Heffernan
Team Canada
