how LOUD is the ssa icon 10"? or even the dcon

I plan on getting the 10" ssa icon sub with the saz-1000d amp and was wondering how loud exactly it's going to be. loud enough to rattle the whole car? and even how loud is the dcon. I just want something for decent bass nothing too overwhelming. Also what would the icon be compared to, and what would the dcon be compared to.

the Icons are one of the best sounding woofers I have had the pleasure to
listen to....
they have SICK lowend output that will shake every bolt in the car

for example..take in mind SPL was not intended for these vids
my goal was strong low end that could shake my fillings out of my teeth
and some good SQ

and another one with two Icons

a single 10" Dcon powered by a Sony 500w amp hit 137db on the dash
in a Dodge Spirit trunk (33hz tuning)...very respectable output for a little SQ sub
the Icons and Dcons have their own sound...very smooth and insane low end

so far the Icons have the flattest response out of any sub I have ever played with...very nice stuff

so if I basically just want to add bass to my music, but decent enough bass then the dcon should be fine then yes? the icon will be too much for my car lol don't need to be shakin the whole damn thing.

with over 400w rms I would use the Icon....
it won't be to much on your amp...I was running ALOT of power
and the enclosure was designed to perform as such

the Icons sound awsome even at the lowest volume levels

trevor can u make a video with music instead of a bass cd plz?
If I was to go with one of those 2 subs I would go for the 10" Icon as it seems like a solid sub!

becskei 08-08-2009 02:51 PM

basically my issue is my friends are telling me that there's no way I should put the icon in my car cause it's 1000w rms and the amp is going to be pushing that to the sub blah blah blah too much power. So is there a way to wire it so that I don't have to put that much power to the sub?

You don't even need special wiring...just don't turn the volume all the way up. Your volume control determines how much power your amp delivers. If you don't max out your v knob the amp will never deliver max power to your sub...assuming you don't have some ridiculously clipped signal or some another anomaly.

if the amp is 1000w rms it's a perfect match...with a decent box and some
properly adjusted gains it's all good
you can wire the coils to drop the output if needed

becskei 08-08-2009 04:19 PM

ok, that's what I was looking for.....wiring the coils to only output to a certain wattage I guess. BTW how much do you charge to build a box?

thumpper 08-08-2009 04:31 PM

my prices are in the Vendors Section
