how much for big 3

i was just thinking how much the big 3 would cost, do install shops do this themselves or do u have to ask for it at an extra price

Father Yuli 01-05-2009 11:37 AM

extra price. a shop would charge you around $100-$150. That's wire plus labour.

you can do it yourself for under $50. PM me if you need short peices of 1/0 for your big 3.

i dont even know how to do it, the thread with the " how to " looks complicated

Anyone close to a Princess Auto this week should know that the 2/0 and 4AWG welding cables are on sale. It is sold by the foot.

lol you kiddin. read it, dont just look at the pics. any 19 year old should be able to figure it out, its just connecting wires.

arash89 01-05-2009 11:58 AM

lol well iam 19 so iam just at the right age!, iam going to actually read it then!

edit, No clue where the **** my engine block is or when the alternator or anything is, my cars an 08 mazda 3 so everything is coverd nothing is exposed

John__Taylor 01-05-2009 01:18 PM

Heres the thing...if you can SEE your alternator you can probably do it cheaply. It really is quite simple, but when I went to do mine for example, Ford stuck the alt almost beside the pan on the pass. side.

Ford and independant shop have both quoted me 3 hours to replace alt. Half the front end end has to come off, including half shafts.

Now, honestly here, if you dont know what an engine block is, i would not attempt it yourself, but there are a lot of skilled people on this board who might offer to do it for you depending on location, etc. I'm sure they wouldnt charge you the same as a shop price.

If your interested and close to Markham this weekend. I could a big 3 for you for a decent price. I think I only have white 0/1 left unless another size let me know.

Father Yuli 01-05-2009 01:38 PM

lol arash. engine block is the enginie itself. the cover comes on, its only clipped on.

arash89 01-05-2009 02:06 PM

i know what u mean but where the heck is the clip thing, i unscrewed it but i cant seem to find where it is located, the block is the actuall thing the cylinder and what not is housed in
