Maybe you mean hybrid capacitors? carbon and electrolytic together in one case?
If you do, I use a Stinger 5 farad hybrid.
From the little I understand, the carbon part is able to release the power quickly and the electrolytic part can recharge quickly, which may solve the slow charging ppl have issues with when it comes to "caps".
The 5 farad model is still only "good" for 1k though, I think of it as a fast charging cap, that about all it is.
BUT... it works better the a standard carbon cap, and they do make a 50 farad one "good" for 10k .

However, just one small Kinetik battery (like the 600 model, its 3" wide) claims to give out more than 100 farads of capacitance, at about the same price as a 5 farad Stinger hybrid cap.

I'm not sure if there much difference in how they react delivering power, perhaps someone could enlighten us both.
There's also rules for DBdrags etc. that limit "cap" farads if you plan to compete, I cannot use my little 5 farad one in Street a/b/c, but I can have a 2nd 800cu" battery in street c . .. crappy rule for me at this moment..lol

you are talking about the supercaps, very low voltages (1-3V) and high capacitance.

They are great, and expensive.

I read that o one has ever proved the caps to be useful (it might be useful for beter audio, but not to help the durability of the alternator or the Battery)

Is that true??
Any proof?

Most of us are going for better audio, not keeping our alts. until old age...
Unless your riding the edge of alt. overload, you'll be fine with a cap.

electrically the cap has value in maintaining system voltage and is probably a good tool for the SQ guy or the guy who doesn't run his big SPL system to the point of overloading the electrical system.

a cap should not shorten the life of a battery or alternator in any significant way

I would say a cap is not a vital purchase but several on this forum have stated that it stopped their lights from dimming and that is the proof that for some (2 to 5 people) it has had a positive and significant affect. I would spend my capacitor money on batteries and bigger wire.

But they do look good and they make a great terminal block

Hehehehe.... I love cap convos.... I'll agree with JohnVroom. Most smaller systems would benefit from a cap electrically (dimming lights, etc.). Any serious system should have attention paid to the alternator's output and the battery capacity, to explain as simply as possible. While caps aren't useless, they certainly aren't what most would consider a proper solution to power delivery.

I am not sure what abatcap is? I aqm looking at a soundstream scell 1000
http://www.soundstream.com/AudioProd...ap/capcell.htm
I have a
phoenix gold octane r 8.0 4 for the front stageing
and I want to run
2 Audiopipe AP15001D driving 2 MTX TS8512 or maybe 2 POWER ACOUSTIK ****-122X I HAVE HEARD REALLY GOOD THING ABOUT THE ****'S..I have already done the big 3 but my alt is only 105 I think (2002 sunfire)I am trying to find a place to get a ho alt but most I can find are still only 160amps
