Well I finally got around to installing my new head. Its an alpine cdm-7874, not top of the line but suits all the needs I want. I originally had a pioneer premier before and had all pioneers before that. Tonight after wiring it up and not touching any of the settings I was amazed the diff in sq from this deck, the music sounds alot better IMO than the pioneers I had.

Just ranting but im very happy with my purchase.

Ohh and those tangband 8"s sound very nice I might add as well.

Awesome, I wish I would have installed my TangBand...but I had different plans as some of you have seen

I might still use it as an SQ sub/midbass if I can find a spot to put it

thanks zack, yeh running them as sub bass, and they do a great job. They play as low as my 10's i had before but they sound very nice doing it. It makes everything smooth and blend together well, unlike some other sub setups i have had in the past.

def a good sub.

Yeah I definitely noticed the difference that a HU makes when I upgraded my old school Clarion to a new Alpine

Chalk another one up for the bad guys!

I totally agree with you. I used to have a Pioneer CD then I changed to an Alpine. Night and day. However, I was stupid enough to go back to Pioneer because of the MP3 and the new OEL (oooh, cool!). It was the biggest mistake I ever made. I have recently changed again and I went back to good ol' Alpine. The sound quality on all Alpine's in general seem to be ten times better than most decks. Seems to me as though we have another winner in Richard Clark's amp/HU challlenge (ie. Carsound challenge)!
