I have an idea (rectangular subwoofer)

What's the problem with the corners of square subs? Why are there no gigantic rectangular subs? I would love to see custom-sized rectangular subs for use in sealed boxes, so it can take up an entire trunk/cabin opening. I can fit a 36" x 19" subwoofer, that's roughly 684 inches of cone area! The most I can fit with round subs are 2 18's with 508 inches. Imagine a wall that's one subwoofer that takes up the entire wall, that's high sensitivity right there. :dunno:

What if the VC was rectangular?

then why not buy the parts and make one? I mean, a simple cost-benefit analysis should answer your question, but people on this forum make subs all the time, so why not buy parts and see what you can come up with?

or maybe try putting two square subs side by side to create a rectangle. wiring them together to create one lead to the amp in theory would make one subwoofer, but to your eyes it'd be two.

get 2 kicker solo x 18's and you'll have a 36x18 rectangle when placed next to each other...that's pretty close to your 36x19 opening.

the SPG 555's are the closest thing i've seen to a rectangle. i think they refer to it as a racetrack.

there were rectangle subs on parts express or some other site like it like 10 years ago
