I might take on the challenge.

Ok, so I just picked up my new aveo (hatch). MY SNOWBOARD FITS! Haha. Now that that is out of the way, I think I want to fit my two 15" cvr's in the back. I did some measurements and if I made a box with out crazy angles I would be able to get the minimum recommended air space for each subwoofer (1.8 cubic feet). What would be the downfalls for this? I know my low lows will be gone but they are 15 inch subwoofers and they should still be keepin up with some 12's in an average sized box am I right (I am talkin about the low notes)? Plus, the smaller the box the punchier the bass, and I listen to a lot of techno so punchy bass is good. What are your opinions? Do you think it is stupid for me to do this or do you guys think it could turn out good?

I want to do this not cuz I want a lot of bass (I think I could make one 15 sound as good as two 15's that are in a tiny box) but it would be awesome to be able to open the hatch and BAM! people aren't expecting to see two huge subs in a tiny fricken car.

The ole' trusty "wow" factor... I think it'd look pretty cool. Since it'll be sealed, I don't think hitting the low notes will be much to worry about - output obviously won't be tremendous, but at least it'll look cool, right?

holly... that should be loud

Hahahaha, that is hilarious. I never thought of it that way lol.

So it looks like most of you agree that it would be cool to see me some how fit them in, do you guys think the sq will be sufficient enough for me (I am not a HARD CORE sq guy)?

And Worldind, when you say "output" do you mean loudness or what are you refering to?

worldind 01-25-2007 10:13 PM

Yeah that's what i meant, although since the cabin is so small, the fact that they're sealed and in a small box will probably be offset a fair bit... I guess we'll soon find out!

How about this, which one would win...

SOUND QUALITY
(choice 1) Two 15's in a 3.5 cuf sealed box
(choice 2) One 15 in either sealed or ported box (>3.5)

LOUDNESS
(choice 1) Two 15's in a 3.5 cuf sealed box
(choice 2) One 15 in either sealed or ported box (>3.5)

Opinions?????

As for loudness, I'd put my money on throwing all your power into a single 15 in a nice fat ported box... and I mean fat as in Aveo terms, so like ~3.5 cubes or however big you can make it.
