Ok i went looking at stuff and and found that the orions h2s were definatly out of my price range!
I did find somthing i liked though. I want to get two 12" kicker compvr dvc 4+4 ohm For within my budget. So im thinkin i should go boxing week and try to get a better deal. Are we allowed to discuss prices here? Anyways can i expect all youre help on a ported enclosure when i get them? |
Anyone have input on th comp vrs? Are these a decent match up?......anyone?

I"d keep the gain down just a bit on the 1200.1 if you wanna go CompVR's....they love that amp, but Brad77 killed one of his while using that amp on them, So I would say, hell yea, go CompVR12's, I use one, it rocks, I love it, but turn your gains down just a bit, you got to remember that that amp will easily do 1400WRMS at 1 ohm. Also, if you wanna go with a ported box, you're power handling will go up a bit, so you might be ok in a larger sized ported box, CompVR's like a bigger box anyway it seems so, you should be ok.
I would suggest maybe 2.5Cuft per driver, ported, and maybe a set of earplugs because they can get loud. |
How do these sound in a sealed system?
Dosent the power handling decrease a little with ported as opposed to sealed? Whichever can handle the most power is probably the way i should go right? My amp does have a subsonic filter so that should help right? TIA |
The CVR's perform beautifully in both set-up's, and in both set-up's they require a rather large box to perform to thier full potential.
In a ported box, you require less power to get loud, but if you still want to go sealed, I'd try a 1.5Cuft box per driver...I know that sounds a bit big, but I don't feel that 1Cuft is enough for full potential, BTW, I don't care what the specs for the CVR say, they don't work as well in a small box. My observations over the last 6-8 months with my CVR12 are that it's basically a round version of the L5 except the CVR, IMO, sounds better. The CVR will get just as loud as the L5 with proper power and I feel that it's much more responsive ad accurate. |
I would go with 2 L5s...
Mine took a Planet Audio 2250 daily, Hifonics BX1500D daily, without even breaking a sweat, got loud, sounded not bad, and won't break the bank either. -Rick |
Thanx guys my mind is set! 2 cvr 12s is a sealed box, 1.5 cuft per sub.
The guy played two 12s off a kx 600 and they shook the entire showroom!Cant wait to get them in my trunk! |
