That's one of the biggest issues I have with these internet retailers....yea ok, they have awesome subs, so why can't they sell them in a store and put them on a display board so the average Joe can hear them, and take them to the shop if they need warraty work instead of shipping them all over god's green acre.

So they make great subs for a good price, but after shipping a 40+ pound sub, is it really that great of a price.

Go with the Kickers, you'll be more than happy, and if you ever need warranty work, there's a dealer fairly close to you.
</font>
I have bought form RE which is a fine online retailer. Many online retailers such as ED and RE use word of mouth as their advertising. With this type of strategy they better have great products and excellent customer support which they both have. This is a win win situation for the customer/dealer.
The RE HC15 I bought direct from RE cost me ~$275-$300CDN after exchange, duty, tax, brokerage, shipping. Now I am a believer of supporting the local shops but I liked the reviews of this product, tried it, and loved it. Not too many drivers out there that I could compare that driver to for the price range.
There also isn't to many major manufacturer's that I could call up on the phone and get instant answers to my questions either like I could with RE. That is why most RE/ED customers know the guys by name when they call and they usually remember you back. Nice.

Yea, I know what you're saying, but not all online retailers are going to have great stuff, so you may get a good deal on the sub and having it shipped the first time, but if you have to have it fixed ei: sent out for re-cone, that tends to start costing alot, especially if you're a competitor that use the subs for 2000+ WRMS burps and blow alot of subs, cause, lets face it, SPL competition is very hard on subs.

I guess my point is, I think it's better to buy a sub/speaker/amp etc from a local, or even a big box shop, that way it's not costing you an arm, leg and left nut to ship it out for repairs.

The flip side is that most big box companies don't cary DD, MMATS, Crossfire etc cause it's not big selling stuff, most of the time you have to order this kind of stuff.

If you're a SPL competitor and you're blowing subs then the shops/big box stores aren't going to replace your burnt coils anyways. You will be buying new drivers.

And since we're on the subject just think about the online retailers that have contributed so much to SPL over the last few years: Resonant Engineering, Elemental Designs, Digital Designs, Beyond Audio.
Where would SPL scores be at now if competitors didn't give these guys a try.

I suppose, but DD and Beyond Audio now have retail stores....local shops that actually sell the stuff.

I remember when both companies were just internet companies, but you didn't really see them as much as when guys like Frank put them in stores ei: 20Hz etc...

Why would you be buying new woofers? Rockford, Alpine, Kicker, JBL...they will all do recones, as long as the woofer is still under warranty....most subs are still warranied at under 3000WRMS, so unless you're running more than that, you should be ok for a recone.
