I think I blew my brand new Alpine Type X sub

I have experience with Alpine things blowing up too. Those PDX amps blow subs like hookers needing a fix!
I think that you'll find that the place you bought it from will listen to you when you explain your abilities. Especially if you infer that you'll be spending more money with them because of their superior service.
They will ask such things as how big is the box? Is it ported? if so, what is the volume of the port? What kind of power wire are you using? Was your car on when it blew? What is your ground like? Do you have pictures of your installation? What kind of battery do you have? And so on...
One of the questions that I have is...did your sub smile when you blew it?
Ok, ok, ok...I have a sense of humour from the toilet. What can I say?!
Oh, those amps blow their fuses really easily. We always upgrade them to 25's and make sure that we have a 150 amp fuse at the battery.
Good luck.

Ok, I took the box out of the car, took the sub out and checked each VC and they were both just under 4ohm.....I put the jumpers back in and I'm getting 2ohm so I put it back in the box and back in the car and it seems to work fine. I will know more when I drive to work in the morning.
The fuses in the amp are actually 4x25amp
I like that I have everything Alpine, weird I know. Wasn't expensive at all either.
I will update in the morning when I know if it's working or not.

My pdx have been fine since day one. I run them hard as hell too. No need to hate on Alpine just cause u want to sell some DD.
BTW, call Alpine tech, cause they might tell u to put 30 amp fuses in.... Weird. I know, but they did for a friend of mine who's fuses blew......
Good luck, I love my PDX's .

Have you ever witnessed one of these start a smoke show with just power and ground hooked up in your shop? For some reason the 80 amps in fusing didn't cook, just the 1.1000!
I've hooked up hundreds of amps. The failure rate on these don't cut it for me in my experience. Maybe Alpine Canada sends their seconds to B.C.?
