i'm still having issues deciding.

whether I should put a second sub in or not. I can only see cons to doing it. such as the chance it'll **** up my trunk. the fact that it'll screw up my rearview mirror. that's about the only problems I can see really. is that a ridiculous thought? or should I just stick to one? it would be pretty powerful. 2 12" subs and 2 1000w amps.

what subs are they?
what car is it?
are you using a stock alternator to generate 2000 watts RMS from thin air?
do you have a 4 channel, b/c all that bass would drain out your mid/highs. Let us know

i'm not using a capacitor if that's what you're asking. I should probably look into that.
I have a 4 channel running to my mids in the front.
the amps would both be mono just going to my subs.

Cap isn't needed it makes no positive difference on amperage draw.

I'd say try pulling all the foam out of your trunk and dynamatting first before you get into serious electrical upgrades. and maybe a custom ported box designed for that sub as well.

And the person who sold you all your new gear has not looked at this yet?

Sikk Nation 04-20-2009 02:57 PM

Too many shops are just parts sellers... no service.

advance isn't like that surprisingly. and the reason i'm asking is because I don't know if I want to get a second sub or not. i'm just trying to figure out what stuff I should look for. i'm not too worried about the power, but I was planning on sound deadening my car, well getting them to. thanks for the replies also, i'd just be going with the box they give me at the store to hold the 2 subs. would that be enough?

Your trunk isnt going to get messed up. It'll flex, like all of the body parts do, but its not going to spontaneously combust when your driving down the street

I used a small piece of dynamat to keep it connected to the glass mount and hot glue to stop it from vibrating at the joints. Still moves a little but doesn't fall off anymore .... :smilie_da

If you go to a speedyautoglass it's free or like $2 to have a rearview put back on. My rearview fell off twice from an RE XXX 12 on 1500W. 2 12's on 2000W will be really loud but I really doubt it'll do any real damage. If you snap a windsheild in half that's another story.

The mount stays on the glass, I couldn't keep the mirror on the mount. So I used a little dynamat on the base of the mirror then slid it into place on the mount, never fell off since.
