i'm putting a set of id12d4v.3 subs into my 88 mustang hatchback
any suggestions for a good box size for sq?
will be running approx 800 watts to the pair

I have my single IDQ in a 0.7 cu.ft. sealed box and it sounds great. It doesn't get extremely loud, but that's not what I wanted for SQ. A pair of them in a sealed box 1.5 cu.ft. would probably sound fantastic...and get plenty loud.

That being said, there are many people here with far superior skills in designing and tuning boxes than myself. I just know what sounds good.

wait, I'll post for Yuli.....

Triple your power and about 12Cuft should about do it. :D

The ID subs were built for smaller boxes.

I'll agree with pusnboob and say 1.5-2Cuft for the pair. If you want louder go with a bigger ported box or add power.

Well I just happened to jump into this question because I saw Image Dynamics and have always been a big fan. Well first off I know for a fact that Yuli would not say that or probably even reply to this message becuase it is not of the SPL nor do I believe that he has any experience with Image woofers, so I would just keep my mouth shut to prevent people from doing what I just did. Anyways I would agree that you should seal them, the IDs are amazing woofers. I would say that they would be nice in 2 cubes sealed. But here is the web site and if you go to the woofer and down load the tech specs it will show you the curves for sealed, ported and single reflex.

The website needs to be updated...most of the woofers are coming in with new specs that are diferent from those posted on the ID Tech page, so make sure you have the subs, and go by the sheet that comes with the subs.
I special ordered my first ID and built the box before they arrived....grrrr...had to re-tune the slot port a bit.
Just a heads up.

And just who the hell are you to tell me what to do, it was a joke, now disappear before I get real pissed and start saying things you won't like.
