Talking Image Dynamics is treatin me VERY nicely!

Ok, so I have had my IDQ hooked up for about 2 weeks (or more? lol). I haven't driven much over the weeks (which is very odd) but I have been breakin the sub in when ever I had the chance and I finally pumped it up a little tonight. This sub sounds BEAUTIFUL! It was getting soooo loud and the cone was barely moving? I think I am going to be safe and break it in a little longer before I play it at its true potential. The only problem is that I am not sure exactly how far I can push it. I mean, I am feeding a 250w sub with a 1300w amp so I HAVE to be careful.

Only one thing wrong with my new car and its system. THE ****ing ENGINE WHINE IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It pisses me off soooo bad. I either have to drive with the system cranked up or turned off so I can't hear that **** comming through my speakers.

But other than that, I LOVE IT!

dude, alt whine has been covered sooo many times... how can it still be a problem for you.... ??

there are like a dozen different fixes.... none of them involve farting around moving power wires or changing RCAs if thats where you are hung up.....

I know man! I decided to just forget about the whine but the more electrical equipment that I turn on the louder it gets! The ONLY solution that I have tried that actually worked is a ground loop isolator. But I currently don't have the cash to throw down on two nice isolators. I have not tried grounding the amp chasis or the headunits rca's yet, other than that I think I have tried everything there is to do.

why don't you just find the source of the whine -- check for ground loops and pinched source wires, and failing that you cheat and buy a power filter.

Slow down man. I feel the same way, that buying a filter is cheating. But before this I have never dealt with engine whine and I have tried EVERYTHING that has been recommended to me, and not just advice from this forum. I had a three day weekend off of school and I did not have to work so I spent my whole time trying to fix the problem. Everytime somebody suggested something to me I ran outside, tried it, and after it failed I came back in to check out what I had to try next. Now, I think it might be a smart idea to purchase an isolator just to keep my equipment safe. So once I get the money that is probably the route I am going to take.

Ground loop isolators are cheap dude. You don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to get one that works.

So, for example, this isolator would do the trick without killing any of my audible sound quality --> http://www.cardomain.com/item/STISGLI ???

whine doesn't exactly contribute to "audible sound quality"...

you wouldn't be using a line filter to resolve your whine issue if you were going for competition sq, BUT some people use line filters when they don't have whine, just to ensure the deck is getting its optimum clean voltage it needs to run everything to spec.

Yes something similar to that might do the trick. At one point I used a couple of those in an old setup, two no name brand isolators and they worked just fine. If they removie the ground loop whine in your setup there will bo no other audible difference (atleast in my case there wasn't).
