Imprint - do I need one?
So, I'm looking at all I can about the Alpine iXA-W407 and I found this review:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9ogLzrX9XQ The guy says he's using an Imprint and something else ptr7, bypass module. "so you can watch your iPod.... mumble... mumble" According to the product info on the website the W407 seemed pretty complete and wouldn't require any additional gear to get it working with either Bluetooth or iPod. I understand the Imprint is some kind of band-pass filter for contouring the sound from each channel. So maybe I don't need it, but do I need this ptr7 for iPod compatibility? Thanks in advance for any responses |
The bypass module is so you can do all the things your not suppose to do while driving. Like watch movies or even playing with some settings.

All the Alpines let you do is adjust bass/treble when driving, with the Pac Audio TR7 you are able to access ALL of the options as well as have video playing.

And Imprint is more powerful than a simple band pass filter. It isn't neccessarily the best processor out there, but it isn't a slouch. You dont need Imprint, but it will most certainly improve the sound quality if you take the time to use it properly. And as wasted911 mentioned, the bypass simply unlocks the unit so all features are available while moving
