I don't know too much about options, but I have 2 friends that had the Pioneers die on them. One guy had his die 2 times but it is on extended warranty. Both times it was the motor that takes the cd in and ejects it.

I own an Alpine deck and love it, and I've heard good things about the indashes as well.

IIRC Yuli had a pioneer and it broke, now has an Alpine and it's good to go.

I know this isn't an extensive survey of owners but it's all I have.

Just trying to help out,
Thanks,
Craig G

Pioneer is one of the most reliable brands in mobile electronics. You will now find refurbished product by Pioneer as their isn't enough to go around.

I owned a CVA-1005 (same as IVA-C800 without the CD player) & it failed on me, twice. There is no rhyme or reason to this as both brands build good products.

The AVH-P6400CD has IP-Bus input that will provide control over an iPod or satellite radio (if you're interested in that). It also has a detchable faceplate (which is VERY important).

Please feel free to ask me any questions on either unit as I'm currently employed by Pioneer but I also sold Alpine for over 10 years (including the IVA-C800).
