Input Needed
Im looking for some feedback on Alpine R series....10" subs and 6.5 components and 6x9's
Thanks. |
Subs are decent, mids are ok, kinda depends on price point, they're not very attractive at full retail IMO.
|
Only one opinion?
|
I had the alpine 6x9's once. They were bad, couldn't take the rated power and didn't sound good. I returned them under warantee, took my money back and bought the pioneer 4-way (80 W nominal, 420 max). My freind also has the 6x9's but they're shot. He has the components as well and although they've held up well, they sound way to harsh for my taste.
My components are MBQ RCE-216, they're pretty good for the buck, but i just got them to fill the holes till i can put together some bucks for real good speakers. |
Thanks for the reply. What about infinity speakers and subs?
|
I've never heard infinity subs but I heard that they are decent for SQ but not so much for SPL. I ran some infinity reference series for a while and they pounded decently for the price. Clean highs, decent midbass.

i had a set of type R 6.5 comps and they were ok, not great, but if you can get them cheap enough theyre fine.
had some infinitys next, and they werent as good, no midrange compared to the alpines, but better tweets. got some used phoenix gold comps afterwards, more midrange than infinity, but sloppy highs. try to order some type X from the states, or look around for mid to higher end MB quarts, futureshop sometimes has good sale prices on them. otherwise, do like Tom is and start saving up for some better gear |
Thanks for all the input guys. What would be considered better gear?....What makes should i be looking at?
For comps and subs. I was looking at this website for deals. NEMESIS AUDIO - Car Audio for MUCH less! |
There are lots of options, it all depends on the investment that you want to make into the system. Considering our last talk on how you did not want to modify the panels of the doors with a tweeter mount, are you now considering this option or are you still interested in hiding the tweeter behind the grill for the stealth look you were hoping to achieve. If so, then a pointsource type component up front is what you need.
