Installation on 05 Sierra Heavyduty

I'm looking at replacing my factory head unit with a Clarion NX700 and wondering if anyone has experience with the setup or install of this deck or any two zone aftermarket head unit and the factory rear dvd system.

Any help is much appreciated.

Welcome to CCA. I have done a couple of different dual zone decks on my Superduty.

There is nothing really special unless Clarion has something different. On the JVC and Alpine you just connect the composte video out to the rear monitor. If you want to hook up the separate audio for it, there should be a set of composite L & R audio out connectors on the back to connect to.

If you want the monitor on all the time with thte head unit, you could relay the amp trigger line and use it to turn the monitor on and off.

That's what I thought too, is that it would be pretty simple, but local installers are saying that because of way it's wired in the factory that it almost seems like the Panasonic unit GM uses is wired specifically for that head unit, not just an RCA hookup. I was just wondering if anyone on this forum has wired a duramax and managed to keep the rear dvd player that came with the truck. Installers are saying I'll lose the usage of it.

Thanks.

Sorry, I didn't read your first post properly. I did not notice the word"factory" rear dvd.
That may be different than the aftermarket screens, I don't know. Maybe someone else will chime in that knows specifically on that unit. Again, sorry I didn't mean to mislead you.

No worries Phil, I appreciate any information I can get at this time on any of these units. By the way good job on your Superduty, nice clean looking truck.

Thank you, good luck on your install!

If you can post back here when you are done, how you handled the rear monitor connection, it might help others.
