ok, Here's the problem.. I paid to have an alarm/starter installed in my car in, oh, june or so. The shop owner/installer (who is a member of this board) then installed the alarm part, and said that he'd hook up the starter portion when I got back from my vacation. This was good, because I had the alarm in, so I had some peace of mind. A couple of months later, I reminded him that the install hadn't been finished, since the start wasn't hooked up, and the remote paging sensor, the siren and the flashing LED weren't installed yet either. He told me to bring it in a few days later so he could have it for the day, and finish up. I brought it in on the day we'd arranged, and when I came back at the end of the day, he hadn't even touched my car. I asked him, and was firm that I needed it finished, especially since I'd already paid for the installation months ago. os he hooked up the remote start and I conceded that I could install the rest myself, since he really wasn't that interested in doing it.

Some time later, the pager remote display crapped out on one side, no big deal, I can live with it, but I asked if it was under warranty and he told me that he'd order me one, and I'd have a new one in a week or so. 3 weeks later, still with the broken remote, one of the buttons shorted out, and the alarm and starter were not working at all. I then called him to see the status on my remote, and he told me that he hadn't done anything about it. The car has been in valet mode since then, and whenever I, or my wife call, he's either not at the shop, or he simply doesn't answer the phone.

does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to get this resolved??

Send him a frank and formal letter out lining what you expect him to do...

If he dosen't agree or follow through I guess you can either eat it or take him to court...

If he does agree to fix you up get it in writing or record the convo..

The remote won't be covered under warranty, so you might want to clear up with him who is paying for it.

I would think that if he is a member of this board and has any degree of ethics, a post like this should rectify the problem and the next post we see from you is a problem solved post and how happy you are that everything is done and working.

Is it a professinal shop and do you have a reciept? If you paid cash, I think your out of luck.

Here's how you get your car done. Get a sign made roughly 4x6 feet stating "I got ripped off by..." stand in front of his shop for a couple of days. But make sure you stand on the street not his property. He'll finish your car...It works every time!

it is a professional shop, and I do have a reciept, I needed one to get my insurance reduced. what really upsets me is that I have been a good customer for this shop for a few years now, I don't know how many times I've let a customer sit in my car and listen to my system as a demo.

I can't get any answer, he won't take my, or my wife's phone calls, I'm getting frusterated.

Why would he not be covered if it was purchased in June?

Sucks that you're not getting good service.....If he doesn't resolve this, he has nobody to blame when you tell all your friends.

^^^ all Compustar remotes are covered for one year against failure. if it is cracked your hooped. other then that you are covered for the remote and so is the shop so he should just suck it up and get you a new one.

the crack in the display isn't the issue, I could live with that, but since one of the buttons is shorted out, whenever you press the other buttons it does weird things. I think it's been reprogrammed, because it won't respond to the other remote at all, and we did try to use the shorted remote to start the car, get it out of valet mode etc before we realized what was happening.
