hmmm I usually don't buy much online actually as far as stereo stuff goes
only online purchases of new stuff were
my e8a's and re35.1 from Genuine Canadian Audio purchase went great Jon's a good guy, I will point out this is a canadian site and he's an authorised retailer for these products so there is full warrenty
I also bought a shop roll of brown bread from b-quiet .......again went well .....wade's good to deal with too
lastbut not least was a synopis audio amp ...........let's just say that went way bad
I've bought quite a bit of used stuff from different cca members, so far all have gone good, but I'm picky about who I deal with...........
as for the online purchase of stuff from non authorised US places .........well I have a tendancy to blow **** up so I prefer a dealer I can go back to with warrenty stuff

This may be OT, but I bought a couple motherboards off eBay and they didn't work.
I also bought a Sony amp off ebay and the seller never shipped it. By the time I got furious it was too late to do anything about it. Oh, well. I can still find out where he lives, I have his street address. I'll be taking a road trip to the US next summer.
I think this record isn't bad considering I made about 30 good transactions on eBay alone.

Dear god do I have some bad stories.
*all* of these are within the past few months. Like, I decided I wanted to compete this season so I started ordering parts last march.
1 - bought an amp off a guy in the us. Guy had a great reputation. 4 months later I still didn't have the damn thing. Ended up contating the FBI. When he found out about that the amp mysteriously appeared a few days later. Only problem is that there was no back plate to it. (open circuit board). I've asked him for it and he said he'd check for me. Never heard back from him. (btw, anyone know where I can find a back cover thing for a D3?)
2 - Bought 2 other amps from another guy because I thought that D3 would never show up. Had someone that lives near by go and pick them up. When they eventually get to my house one of the screws is missing off the speaker terminal and the end caps were missing the screws. Not a HUGE deal, but I was told they were "like new" so I was expecting all the pieces to be there. About a month later I finally got all the pieces from the guy. He actually ended up being pretty cool to deal with
3 - Bought a pair of subs at the end of April. Was supposed to have them about 3 weeks later. 3 MONTHS later I still didn't have them. A bunch of reasons were given along the way. I finally get them but instead of being dual 1Ohm VC's they're dual 1.5.. I mean, I've heard of the ratings being off by a little, but this is an extra .5 Ohm on each coil. I'd send them back to get fixed but it would cost me an assload to send them back so I'm just gonna deal with it.
4 - Bought one of the TermLab USB meters. Used it twice before the thing died. So now I've sent it back to Wayne for him to check it out. It's been about 2-3 weeks now that I haven't had it. More of an inconvenience than anything.
5 - Bought a copy of DbJams v.6 off the termpro web site about a month ago. Still haven't seen it. Asked Wayne about it when I emailed him about my meter. He said it was sent out a while ago and I should have it any day now. That was about 2 weeks ago.
A lot of the stuff isn't a HUGE deal but considering just about EVERYTHING I've tried to do to get my system up and running has been a big screw up I've come SO close to just quitting it all and doing something else with my time. It really doesn't seem to be worth the hassle.
But I've got all winter to work on it though.. so we'll see what happens. (If I get my damn meter back in a reasonable time though!)
