I'm starting to accumulate all of the materials to put the xbox in the Golf. I went to Future Shop and the cheapest inverter they had was $70. Anybody know of anything cheaper out there?

Before you run out and buy an invertor, find out the wattage rating of your xbox and match the invertors wattage output rating to it, or even a little higher. Things don't work so hot when they don't get the right amount of power.

The smallest invertor could easily run an xbox. But spend less money, a little more time and do a nicer install. If you change the power source you can run the xbox straight off 12 volts. I'd recommend asking on the carsound board to do this. I'm sure someone there has done this before.

Be careful with invertors. I know that in Tim's FS bays they actually use the more expensive convertors for laptops because they are noise free. Apparently the cheaper ones leave video hash sometimes...
