iPOD input to factory GM HU

Hey there... I was wondering...

Is there any way by which to add an ipod to a factory hu in an '01 corvette z06? I'm not interested in one of those wireless deals but could the ipod be hard wired in somehow?

Thanks all

Absolutely you can, just need to get one of these units here. I believe MR2NR is an Audio Control dealer so if you were to contact him he would let you know pricing etc.
Hope this helps you
Nick

The Epicenter Plus Bass Restoration Processor

Sounds to me that he has a stock system and no aftermarket parts in it. This means that the Audio Control would not be in his best interest, thank you for the props though 420guy, every little bit helps a small store like mine.

OP, can you confirm the rest of the system please.

i think this is what he's looking for:

Neo iOn : PODGM4V6 - Product Information - iCarKits

Sorry, ya guys you 'd think I was a noob LOL

It's a totally stock setup at the moment. I was considering a small sub and single amp for a little bass over the stock system. I didn't want to to a total system though. I've already got a new audiocontrol 24xs, EQX and EQS all in the boxes but don't think those will help me out with the iPOD.

Although the car didn't come factory CD changer option I see no reason to surmise that the factory HU doesn't have the input for the changer in the back.

Would the epicenter "plus" fill both roles with the ipod and the sub amp ability?

Maybe a little more info on both particular options? :)

Any help appreciated.. thanks

T

What?? I thought that was exactly the purpose of this unit. To add a subwoofer and amp to the factory system. Also has the Ipod input. If I were him that is exactly what I would be looking for. If I read something wrong please let me know what.
Thanks
Nick

in all fairness I didn't "clarify my intentions" until later LOL

i'm oretty sure the epicenter was created to enhanse the "lower end frequencies" in songs by adjusting the 'sweep' and 'wideness'. also jacks up the RCA voltage i believe

tonez735 01-26-2009 05:53 PM

So I guess I'll jack my own thread here LOL Would the epicenter "plus" or whatever its called flip the bill and allow be to hook up an amp using speaker level inputs in addition to the iPOD and could the other specified option work on a factory GM HU? :)

MR2NR 01-26-2009 06:10 PM

If you have no plan on changing the stock speakers and adding a amp for them, how do you plan on getting the input from the IPOD to the factory system? The Audio Control unit is fine IF you plan on taking the input and passing the signal along for full range amplification then to the appropriate speakers.....

Nick, his original post made no mention of any type of system, just ipod integration into the stock head unit. As such the Audio Control would not work for him. The Audio Control unit is a line driver, a advanced LOC, a bass resoration device and of course provides a AUX input. If he plans on adding a full complement of outboard amplifiers and new speakers, then this model could indeed be used.

Ok sorry I must be having one of those days LOL. :eyes: Disregard anything I have mentioned. :bs: Must have been looking at too many posts today as I for some reason thought he was adding an amp and subs as well as the Ipod.:loser: To the OP if your factory deck is capable of controlling the optional CD changer then the gizmo Jalat suggested will work. Will need to check if you have the plug for it on the back. Sorry for the confusion I will go back to my corner and be good now. :smokin:

In this case yes I believe that would be the easiest way to go. But, see previous post LOL maybe MR2NR will verify this. :smilie_da

Gong.... As he is only looking to add a sub and amp for it.... and still no front / rear speakers with a amp..... go back to your corner....

Peripheral electronics
They make kits that plug into the CD input of your factory radio that allow you to use your ipod or radio (and often steering wheel mounted controls)
I have one picked it up from future shop almost a year back and its one of the best purchases I have ever made.

PAC (pacific accessory corperation)

Since you have no CD changer, and I guessed because its a Z06 that you have the Bose system in it that the IPAC-OEM would work for you.
It allows control of the Ipod through the stock Hu, and steering wheel controls, plus it will charge the Ipod while its pluged in.

the bose systems OEM put on your car is absolute crap. My mom's TL has that and it sounds terrible. The sub makes farting noises on loud volume, its only good for radio and the speakers also crackup on 3/4 volume. If i were you i would change the Deck or hell the whole system. any speaker is better than those factory bose systems.

The GM ones aren't that bad and I'm not adding to the car for weight reasons... I want to keep the factory deck and don't feel like tearing the car apart. Any serious $$ goes to ponies under the hood.
