before the other night i had never installed my own deck before.

i had done it a million times on the bench at work, but never in a car.

so i was working for liek 4 hours with my nak and my eclipse trying to figure out what i was missing.

i rewired everything at least 5 times on two different harnesses form both of my cars...

checked the fuses, checked the wires in the back of the clips, checked everything, and i still couldnt figure it out...

i stopped to eat and went back at it with a small flashlight in my mouth digging through the dash...

what could be wrong....

then the hypothetical slap in the face,

i put the friggin key in the ignition.

please, tell me how much of an idiot i am..

as a reward for my honesty and perserverence...

when i started my car up again to move it, other electrical probems that i had figured themselves out...

now everything is hunky-dory.

if only my brakes would firm up a bit...

Whenever I do any kind of job and it doesn't work, it always turns out to be the dumbest thing that I forgot to do. You just don't check those things ever because they are so simple you assume that they aren't the problem! LOL!

Heh....

Installing a Clarion changer for a fellow employee at work... Got the changer mounted, all wires run, plug it into the CLarion deck, pop a cd in the cartridge - error code.

Check the cd, check the orientation dials on the side, all good. The thing will not read cds. Ok, so I figure the thing is fuct. Pull the car out, tell the owner to get the manual to see what the error code means. Half an hour later a fellow installer comes in with the manual.

Him - Guess what error #29 means?

Me -

Him - cd inserted upside-down.
