JBL GTO1202D/GTO1002D with what amp?
 

Looking for something cheaper for my first real sub setup, and the GTO1202D is on sale for $130 at Best Buy:

Wondering what amp will be best to power each sub, again, looking for something cheaper for now. Futureshop has both the Infinity 311A and RF P325.1 on sale for $150:

Would either of these amps match up well to either sub? From what I've read (wiring 4 ohms down to 2 or whatever) and really confused me, The 10" would be better with one of those amps should it not? Or should I be looking for something completely different? A short explanation would be nice as well if someone doesn't mind.

My deck is a Pioneer 4900iB if that helps (4V).

you need a dual 4 ohm voice coil sub, should be the gto 1204d ( if the 12" is chosen...I would get the 12" personally) so that you can wire the coils parallel and get a 2 ohm final load. Either of the amps you listed are a perfect match for that sub as they both generate maximum power output at 2 ohms, which happens to be in the 300 watt range...the rated rms input power for that sub. Which amp you choose is up to you as they are both very solid brands...I like the RF a little more myself , but that's just me (I've never had a problem with an RF product in 23 years of using them). Otherwise, you're good to go.
Another thing you may want to consider is getting a bigger amp now or a 2 channel full range that can be used in the future when or if you decide to expand your system. The bigger sub amp will allow you to add another sub later on if you choose to do so. If you think you may be doing that, then get the dual 2ohm sub (can be wired for a 4ohm load) and get an amp that delivers 300 watts at 4ohms and 600 watts at 2 ohms. The other option is to get a 75x2 full range amp that bridges to give you about 300 at 2ohms (used with the dual 4ohm sub). This amp can be used in the future to power your front or rear speakers, and a larger amp can be bought for your subwoofer(s). Only you know if you may be expanding the system later on, but I thought you should keep that in mind as almost everyone ends up wanting more a few months after they get their system. Hope that helps.
