It's all about the same, both companies make some fine amps. I would go for more power and get the two 600.1's, I also like their smaller size.....it all boils down to personal preference, one 1k watt amp would easily do the job, if you went this way, again I would pick the Alpine due to its small size.

why alpine or JL only?

On paper Alpine and JL state same power, but in reality Alpine is much weaker, but it would be a great choice if space is limited. Plus Alpines get much hotter, which in turn loses more power due to heat, and reliability suffers in a long run. Size is the major factor when choosing Alpine. JL is just too big for the performance it offers. There are other amps that provide better performance for their size. If more power and smaller size is the major factor, I've seen Audioque amps that put out over 2000 wrms and are just around 17" long, and they can be had for cheap brand new.

Dude, how about a Rockford P1000-1BD (rated at 1000W RMS at 1 ohms) makes about 1200 real life for $599.00 retail. Small foot print too!
