I was just quoted a price on a JL 12inW7 including JL sealed box- $1830.

Is this worth it??

I currently have a W4 and drive a 97 Acura 1.6EL
I am buying a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and figured I should upgrade my sound system.
Do I need to upgrade or is my current sub good enough/comparable?
Are there any other subs that will give me the same quality?
Thanks

I hear a lot of people compair the Adire audio Brahma to the W7. Priced around $360US it's a steal with exchange rates these days!

The resonant Engeineering XXX is easily comparable (now all the JL lovers will come after me) In blind listening tests, JL reps have chosen the XXX over the W7 for sound quality, low end extension and linearity

The W7 is a fine driver but in my oppinion, like everything from JL it is overpriced.

A few other drivers to look at:
Orion H2
Image Dynamics IDMax
Resonant Engineering XXX
Adire Brahma

It would be easier to recommend a driver given your tastes in music, what you want the system to do, and how much power you plan on running.

Around these parts you could buy a small winter car for the price of a W7. Worth it? Not to most. You can get similar/better performance with a myriad of drivers for a far, far cheaper price. What sets the W7 apart from other drivers is simply linearity past 1000W (roughly)as the suspension is top notch. You're paying for the JL name, and the R&D that went into the driver. You, ultimately, have to decide whether or not it's worth the cost.

Thay seems a little on the expensive side, even though it is JL. I'd definately save the money and get an RE XXX, and build your own box.
