Hi,

I would like to get either a JL Audio 250/1 or e1400D. The 250/1 cost$550.00 and the e1400D cost $450.00.

The 250/1 is rated at 250WRMS and the e1400D is400WRMS. Is the 250/1 really worth it? It is more expensive and it is also not as powerful. Or is it the 250/1 severly underated?

Thanks for your opinions.

the 1400D is only 400 watts at 2 ohms.....at 4 ohms it is something like 240 watts RMS. Also, the 1400D has the remote bass port which means you can add the optional RBC-1 and control the Bass Q from the front of the car. The technology in the slash series is also more sophisticated from what I understand. BTW, where are you getting those prices.....buy from eBay and save a couple hundred bucks. Between my wifes and my cars we have the 250/1, e4300 and 500/5 and the slash series has more grunt.

the 250/1 is a very musical amp if that is the ultimate out come of your systeme. regulated power supply. lots of out put devices and great crossovers. this is only half the story however. this is because i am not versed in the other product u speek of and i don't know what u are tring to power. by the way those prices seem a little steep. we sell the 500/1 for about 600.00. any who have fun!

I've had a JL 12W4D4 for about 8 years now and it still sound as sweet as day one. I know that JL builds quality stuff and some will say it is overpriced but I put quality and reliability top on the list. I got those prices from Kennedy HiFi in Scarborough, Ontario.

I dont trust buying from ebay. Any other places in the GTA that will offer better prices??

I plan on using the amp with either a Kicker VS12L5 ported box or a JL W6v2. Both of these subs are dual voice coils and and be wired in 2 or 4 ohm. So depending on which amp I get, I will get the appropriate sub (ohm wise).

I am slightly more SPL biased than SQ as far as my subs go (But that another story for the front stage)

I am leaning more towards the e1400D because it seems to be more powerful.

Thanks for your input guys!

I just don't see the logic in dropping $550 on a 250watt amp that isn't anything special that's all.

Anyways, Kennedy HiFi has always been on the pricey side but they do good work and they're a good crew.

For those subs I would look for something in the 5-600watt class. Especially if SPL is more of a concern.

If you're not comfortable buying off of eBay than Auto Sound Design is okay, though I find that most of their salespeople are dicks. Why not try G&G Electronics in Scarborough.....they buy direct from Gemsen (JL's Canadian distributor) and offer the lowest in-store prices I've ever seen.
