JL + Alpine f#1

I just got an Alpine f#1 cda 7990 HU and i,m wondering if my Jl slash series amps are clean enough to keep up ? Do you guys think i will have to go to a brand like Audison or zapco to get the most out of this HU ?

I'am running the new f#1 setup, with pheonix gold xenon amps. I was told by numerous people that I'am not taking the full advantage of the f#1 with just one four channel amp, because one of the main advantages of f#1 is to go with an active setup, which would require one channel per speaker. It still sounds good with the xenons, but I will be upgrading to zapco competition series amps, ditching the passives going active and getting a second processor.:)

I'd like some more opinions if you guys don't mind

I don't really like JL but most people seem to think an amp is an amp (lets not open up that can of worms) so you should be fine. You didn't mention whether or not you have the H900, but if so, you may want to run a 3 way front stage with, as was mentioned, a channel per driver to get the most out of that deck/processor combo.

As for MY oppinion, I'd run either Zapco or Audison...both amps are excellent....far superior to the JL IMO.

you won't hear a difference between the audison, zapco or the slash series JL. also to correct brandon, they're not far superior at all. like them or not, they're one of the best.

"Slash series of amplifiers was created by amplifier engineering guru Bruce McMillan, formerly of the old Precision Power, and responsible for the Art Series amplifiers. Like the Art Series, the JL Slash amps feature a heavily regulated power supply, enabling full rated output from any voltage 11v-15v, are super clean with very little coloration, and feature bulletproof construction."

^ I tend to agree. IMO it's not worth replacing working gear.

its just not a f#1 discussion with defro

You can quote stuff till the cows come home, I don't care, I don't like them....and to call them the best, well that's foolish...the best compared to what? Audison Thesis? Hr100? Zapco Competition? Brax Graphic? Tru C7T's?

Yea, I think not.

And what's best about those amps you just listed? Value for money? Build quality? Warrantee? Finish? Size? Power? Specs? Or that they sound 'more' perfect? Perfect compared to?

Yeah I'm in the camp of believing an audible difference can (or should) not be made between a good-quality, moderately-priced amp and a built-to-the-nines, incredibly-expensive amp. Neither should add any sonic character to the sound.
