Are those amps worth the $ ? How reliable are they ? I am looking at the 250/1 amp and just curious is it worth getting it used ? Also this one is rated for 250W but how much does it actually produce as everyone says that this equipment is underrated ?

nice pieces, but like you said, quite expensive new...

I dont see why you couldnt find a nice used one around here somewhere...usually a few kicking around
I guess it would be under-rated by as much as the birth sheet notes, which would depend on the individual amp

Well this guy I know is selling his for 250$CND its used but it works great... Im just curious if this is worth or are there other makes that will put out more power for the $ and be reliable etc...

its about $1 jl rates there amps at what they actually put out
12-14volt, 2 to 4 ohms, its fully regulated so your always getting about 250

edit:
$1/watt

are you set on JL? because there are lots of other high quality amps out there for your $$

crazyravr 02-23-2004 05:29 AM

No no... Im not set on JL... I also dont care how an amp looks like as long as it performs...

I just saw this JL amp and thought its a good deal... also thought those were underrated... I guess not...

JL's don't have birth sheets :D but a 500/1 was tested by a magazine to be around 610 watts into 4 and 2 ohms. The 250/1 would probably be underrated, but by a smaller margin.

I have been doing some 'amp research' with the help of some industry professionals. Word is, they really like the JLs ability to take a beating and keep on trucking.
