JL Audio or Dynaudio or Hertz-----HELP
Good day to all,
I would really appreciate any help in regards to a good sounding speaker. Simply put, I enjoy all sorts of music but really enjoy smooth bass and accurate detail of instruments. I hope someone out there has heard all 3 brands. Price is not a problem. I am running a Audison LRx 5.1mt amp. So enclosing, which speakers would be the best? JL Audio ZR 650 csi Hertz Mille MLK 165 Dynaudio Esotec system 362 I have no idea at the moment in regards to a good DVD/Video head unit. any ideas would be greatly appreciated |
Well, those are some fine speakers. I have no personal experience with either set, but if I had to choose this is what I would consider.
Only JL has sharp aluminum tweeter, the others are soft dome, so not as sharp. Depends what you like. But JL is not as efficient, and has lower power handling. So the only plus is brighter highs if you like it. Simple set for the money. Hertz is very impressive throughout including multi-functional x-overs and tweeters have Q settings. Dynaudio is the only 3-way set, and would be my choice based on that, but complications and cost of install etc might be a problem for some. Also, it is a very sensitive set, and would get loud. In conclusion, even though I like brighter highs, I would not take JL. It seems overpriced for what you get, and is not as exotic as other sets. My choice would be between the Hertz and Dynaudio. Now, do you want a 3-way or a 2-way? That is the question. I hope this helps. |
As far as the DVD Player is concerned Eclipse AV8022 or AVX5000 get my vote.

JL Audio or Dynaudio or Hertz ------ HELP
Thank you Sasha for your input.
My door panels are 3 way and I was always leaning towards the Dynaudio. As far as the HU I see you are a Eclipse Fan. I do like the idea they have a 5 volt preout. Thank you again and have a Very Merry Christmas |
As far as the DVD... lots of good stuff out there Eclipse, Pioneer, etc. now the Alpine F#1 devices may be available for ultra low prices right now.
The Dyn is very good (their new tweeter is much better then their old one) for the bass/ mids it is one of the best, the JL is quite good and balanced .... though a touch pricey for what it is, I have yet to hear a Hertz product. There are other comp sets I would consider The Pioneer Premier TS-C720PRS is good as is the Memphis MSQ6 is very good, and those are just a couple for a lot less $ You really need to listen to these yourself to select the one that most pleases you |

JL .. I heard they are the best hands down
|
ZRs will be extremely detailed, very good speakers but not cheap!!
All good choices but I would likely go with the Dyns... |
If the dyns were twice the money they are I'd still choose em over the others.
The JL's would be my second pick of the three I've used all three and all three are great sounding speakers I dont find the JL's sharp not many highend comp sets utilizing metal domes are sharp these days. |
