I have a 12" JL W6v.2 right now in a custom sealed enclosure and was wondering how much of a difference a JL H.O. box would do for my setup.

I have only seen but never heard these boxes so I'm relying on you vets to give me some sound advice. Are JL's H.O. boxes really worth the coin?

BTW, how much would a H.O. box cost me these days for the 12"?

Thanks.

Not worth the money over a properly designed enclosure built yourself.

I dunno about that, there's an awful lot of R&R thats gone into those boxes, specifically the folded vent enclosures. You don't think a box full of patented technology, designed and built by a bunch of speaker freaks, qualifies as "prefab" do you?
Hey, do what you like, I can't speak for their pricing and I must admit the H.O. boxes are pretty big, but they are very well engineered and built.

Does that mean the W7 with all its R&R and patents and huge price is the best sub available?

Is the W7 a great driver? Yes. Are there other drivers out there that can achieve SQ and SPL abilities equal to the W7 for a much lower price point? Yes. Do some of them sound better than the W7? Well that's in the ears of the listener but many would say "yes".

its widely accepted that anything to do with jl has to be trash and the first thing that should be said is that you can buy just as good for less
is the song we sing

I think if you copy their design fairly closely(the same volume, vent size and shape and material thickness) you should be able to get very similar results and at a fraction of the price.

i knew this girl once she definatly had an H.O. box, but for some reason it was only 1/3 the price of an L.O. box...... funny how that works

Maybe someone can answer this question. When I went in the factory tour of the JL factory in florida, WE were told that the combined port/speaker coupled together thru that wierd oval increased output. The port begins at the middle of the speaker. anyone tried this? or opinions?
