looks like a slot port that runs along the box to make it longer.... </font>
the oval part in the front is actually a port and the area in front of the sub is the second chamber.
i have never had a chance to hear this box and have never owned jl products.imo this set up is not worth $1500+.
This one time, at band camp, I sat in this guys car, he had a civic. He turned his stereo up and blew my skirt off!! It was real loud. I was real embarassed, I mean your brother should never see your undies.......
When Dashworks first started carrying the 10w7 in the H.O. box shon lent me one for a couple of weeks to try out. I gladly dropped it in the back of the volks with the JL 500/1 to power it.
I must say, the box is freakin' huge! I think it had roughly the dimensions of a 2.5 cubic foot box.
Output, when you consider it is still a single ten, was ridiculous. I can say I've never heard a single ten in any box that had more output - custom or not. For a ported box I found frequency response to be rather wide - which was nice since I listen to different styles of music. The sub/box combo was able to deliver a fairly tight punch with very nice bass extension. Overall I was blown away by what one ten was able to acheive. Too bad it takes up the same room as the two twelves it sounds like.
Ya, it's expensive. Ya, you could get more out of your trunk with a custom box. ya this, ya that. Hey, car audio is all about choice, last time I checked I still had one, it's up to you to make yours. ba-a-a-a-a

I don't usally say much , but with this topic I will give my 2cents worth...
I have owned a few W7's both a 10 and 12. The 12 was my first, had local shop build a couple ported boxes for it to play with the tuning( between 28-36hrz) We ended up with the box made to JL's specs. For my first W7 is was pretty sweet. Traded cars in and ended up selling it. Happen to get a sweet deal on a 10W7 in a HO box and then installed it. What I can say is that there was a night a day difference. The HO box really did play alittle bit louder.
With that would I buy another HO box, yes. However as people have pointed out the cost is stupid. If your shop is telling you $2000 for a 12w7HO then you might consider going else where. That is pretty much robbery!
Here is Kitchener I am pretty sure the 12 was going for $1250 and 10 at $1000 in the HO box.
Bottom line if you can get the HO box at a reasonable price, yes I think it is worth it.
