JL VR650 Components
Kinda lookin for some new components i'd like to stay with JL so they are matching my sub. What do you guys think of the VR650's. I'd choose these because they are more in my price range. I'll be running them off an amp either buy a new one or use my older kenwood amp at 30 watts rmsx4.

the VR's a nice set, my friend is a big jl guy and he would only buy the vr's and not XR's b/c of the tweet, soft dome compared to the aluminum one. And when i listened to them, they sounded nice and clean, he had them running off zapco power

originally I was going to get 2 sets of thes one for the rear and one for the front but after reading another thread and thinkin hard about it i've come to the conclusion to just get 1 set of the xr 653 for the fronts and just locate the speakers around the cab of my truck. Good choice?

Bad idea. Do not locate the speakers just all around the cab. Go with a good set of front speakers, generally a 2 way component set as they are far easier to install and tune properly, then a basic set of rear speakers to fill it in. Lot of options to choose from.

Yeah, what he said......the 3 way sets are nice but harder to set-up properly.....
Only other thing I would suggest is using your present amp will work better if you bridge it down to 2 channels for the VRs. They will take more than 30watts to sound good anyway, and you can always run rear speakers off the deck.

Thanks for the help. I was thinkin the xr's cause my comanche has a small cab and about mid door level in the dash there are grills that hold little 3 inch speakers. So the 6.5 in the door, the 4 in the dash and then the tweets in the upper door panel by the door handle. With my current amp bridged. That way I can turn the amp inside my deck off to cut down on heat at the hu. With my current set up you barely hear the fronts because your legs block alot of sound and the rears are getting blocked from amps and sub behind my seat, So you see my dilema now. I will keep searching for options thanks for the replies guys.
