Ripped out my gear from my old car -- time to rebuild. I was running Boston's; now I think I'll get rid of those and go with a new brand for the subs and components. So, it's either:

2 JL 10W3v2
Either XR 653CS or XR 650CSi Components

Or

2 Alpine SWR1021D
and SPR 176A components all around.

My bud runs all Type R stuff, and it's closer to the sound I want than the Bostons I've just finished with.

But I'm only slightly familiar with JL's subs; which I think are impressive. Not at all sure on their components, though.

Any opinions/help is greatly appreciated.

Personally I dont like the type R at all...iv heard many of them same with JLW0s and I think W0s are better...so a W3 should blow it out of the water.

JL components are awesome, the XRs are great! I was about to get them but i went with Focal Polykevlar K2s

The W0s aren't even comparable to the Type-Rs, so I don't know what kind of ghetto Type-R set-ups you've heard.

Personally, I'd go with the JL set-up if cost isn't an issue. The XR components are much better than the SPRs and the W3v2 is a better sub than the SWR, IMO. Of course, the Alpine set-up should be a lot cheaper, so cost may be a factor.

If you upgraded the speakers to Type-Xs, then I'd get the Alpine set-up

I had some W0's and there very nice if done right, I'd look to something alittle less main stream like DLS. I have heard and seen these products, very nice and clean.
