hi everyone, I want to put a sub ROCKFORD FOSGATE PUNCH STAGE P115S4 15" into my Corolla 2003, I just need more bass but I dont want to remove the stock cd player in the car. Can I just connect a mono amplifier to one of the rear speaker for "sucking" signal ? Then connect the sub ? Thanks for your help

:hah: :smilie_au

If the amp has a high level input adaptor built in yes and no. If the factory system is a normally powered (as in no outboard factory amplifier), then yes you can use the built in high level inputs. If the factory system is amplified, then it is not a good idea at all. I would use a Scosche SLC4 to integrate into the stock wiring. It will yield better results for you. A alternative to this if your amp does not come with a level control (usually a dash mounted knob that plugs in with a telephone jack connection) is a Audio Control LC6i + optional bass remote. This will allow you to further expand the system down the road with new front / rear amplifiers and speakers while retaining the stock cd player. The best solution and unfortunately the most expensive is the Audio Control.

I saw on the rear speaker its marked as 17.5Watt so the integrated amp should be around 10watt, is that tooo much for it?

You should be fine. Most mono amplifiers still require stereo inputs as it derives the mono signal from both channels. You will need to wire to both speakers.

at what wattage is considerat as high level input? What will happen if i connected a not speaker lead amp to speaker line?

dude just say no to getto!!! thier is a schoce(sp) harness for aux inputs! it is a much freindlier way. trust me man. i hate getto in most rides. though in my 85 its a diffrent story as its my bush truck. its kinda ghetto...

you should always hook a sub upto an amp. you will never get any pleasure from 17.5 watts. thats like taking your cell phone, shoveing it down your pants and putting it on vibe. not nearly the same as an actual vibrator. do it right the first time and you will thank your self man

Prolifik 10-11-2006 01:15 AM

hey chunk do u put your vibrator to the front or the rear section of your pants?

Haunz 10-11-2006 08:10 AM
