Your amp is going in to protect. Turn the gain down if you want to turn the volume up.

Edit: On second thought the other possibility is a loose remote wire connection. I had this with an install in my car, I was utterly baffled, the amp kept flipping off and on but it just didn't occur to me until I started switching out the amp. So in short, double check your connections and fuses, but most likely I'm going to say it's the amp protecting itself.

what is the gain? and is that on the amp controler remote? if so it is turned down all the way

The amplifier should have it's own gain settings in addition to the remote. Check both to ensure they're turned down.

turn them down all the way?

Dilatory Mar 13, 2011 02:50 PM

Yes. Set both to 0. Then use the volume knob, if the issue persists at moderate levels you either have a fuse that is letting go (assuming your connections are fused, check the amplifier fuses as well) OR the amp itself is going bad.

Has this issue started recently after performing fine or is this a new install?

well i had it in a truck before with no problems and i put it in an other truck and now getting this. i checked the manual and it doesnt show a gain control on the amp itself. just lpf, isf, phase switch, input sensitivity

Dilatory Mar 13, 2011 02:57 PM

Input Sensitivity will be the gain knob

If the issue happened during a swap then I'm going to say its a loose connection.

Just go over everything and make sure everything is tight, check your fuses and make sure the gain is down.

Are you using the same gauge wire in this install compared to the previous?
What amperage is the alternator? If youre using a lower amp alt it may not be supplying enough juice as the previous one so the amp goes in to protect because it starts getting underpowered or dirty power.

turn it up. look at the amplifier. is the protect light comming on?, if not check connections. your voltage could be an issue. a bad connection or something.

everything is from the the other truck. wire and everything. wire connections seem good. i dont see a protection light on it.i notice that the power light is still on though when it stops working though?
