Kenwood Excelon speakers vs factory Bose

I have a 1997 Nissan Maxima with the upgraded Bose system. I recently replaced the head unit with a Kenwood Excelon DDX812, and added two 1,000 watt 10" Kenwood Excelon subs with class D amp. It was quite a step up in sound quality and features. However, now I'm really curious as to whether upgrading my remaining speakers would make a dramatic difference in sound quality. The existing four 6 1/2" self amplified Bose speakers (and tweeters) sound quite good. However, would the sound be that much better if I were to replace them with Kenwood Excelon 6 1/2" component speakers, and say something like the Kenwood Excelon KAC-X4R 1200w 4-channel digital amp? ... or would I basically just be wasting my money? I would appreciate any opinions.

we'll i have the i30t the 96 n that came with the bose system its good but for sound quality upgrade to a component set thats all you really need u can keep the back factory either way a really good component set at the front n you really dont notice any difference at the back... but have a small amp for it... if you really want great sound qailty get 2 component set and a 4 channel amp so you can replace all factory speakers.. plus i find component sets give you a better sound when it comes to quality rather than the build in tweeters in the 6 n a half

Thanks for the info. If I were to replace them, I would use Kenwood Excelon component speakers and a 1200 watt 4-channel amp. What I'm really wondering is if the sound will be noticeably better. The "premium" Bose speakers with their own amps come EQ'd specifically for the vehicle they are installed in. Many people say they have replaced the factory Bose speakers, only to get worse sound than they had. I'm assuming these people did not use decent speakers or amp, but am still a bit worried that I'll spend a bunch of money, and actually end up with worse sound than I have now.

nooo... just get a good set... kenwood are a good brand i had one of their decks last year very powerful but no way with a good component set you get better sound by far unless they put in cheap speakers as u said or they didnt set amp right... but yea i guarantee u'll get better sound and clearer those 6 1/2 have no tweeters in em n the factory ones forget about those ones
