Amp suggestion

Hey guys! I need a little help... Im deciding to buy a new amp. I have one amp in mind... The

Rockford Fosgate Power T500-1bd

It cost around $260.

But, just wondering, if there is a better amp that does 500 watts and if VERY efficient. And that is also under $300.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure what you would define 'very' efficient as or if this would compare to that amp which is apparently $540 MRSP but i love my alpine 500w @ 2ohm. you can find a ton of good reviews for it but I believe a newer model is out now. At a glance the amp you're looking at seems to be a pretty good deal at $260 though.

MRSP $200, got mine "on sale" for that price locally.

Do you need a 1ohm stable mono amp?
This amp doesn't seem all that efficient given they are recommending a 100A fuse.
There are many 500w mono amps that use only 60A. The Alpine MRP-M500 only uses 2x30A, for example.

True. That Alpine amp looks good Will it be enough to power an alpine type r 12"?

Yeah i was just about to add that i hope you know what you're doing with regards to impedance/wiring, if you don't specifically need a 1ohm stable amp then you're probably going to be wiring it at 4 or 2ohm which only gives you 250w and 400w respectively, with efficiency dropping as its impedance does.

Here's the amp you're looking at's specs on their site.

yea, i was looking at a dual 2ohm alpine type r (which gives me 1 ohm) but, if im going with the alpine amp, ill have to buy a dual 4 ohm sub ( which gives me 2 ohms)

Exactly. I wouldn't want to wire down to 1ohm anyway, I believe the lower the impedance the harder it is on the amp. If you haven't bought anything yet i'd recommend getting two 4ohm wired to 2ohm, but then you'd run into the problem of having them underpowered :/ two of them together puts their combined rated at 1200w rms, i wouldn't power that with less than 1000w, but the 500w alpine should match a single one very well if that's an option? :P

OR, you could spend a little extra and power them with a 1000w alpine amp ($400), it should match two type R's nicely!

Right now, im looking into 1 alpine type r, so under powering them wont be a problem. So either the alpine amp or the Rockford prime amp. any thoughts between the two amps?

Ps Thanks for helping

No problem

Personally I would go with the Alpine, it's a very reliable amp and is class D which = 90%+ efficiency compared to the Rockford's class A/B (which is 65%'ish i think?) along with the fact I own and love it.

42 reviews put it at 4.9 out of 5 here
