Kicking it slot port

For the last 2 years I have been running my subs in a 8 cube box, common chambered firing out 2 4" aeroports. I had assumed they had loosened up. That was until I set them in their new home, slot ported, separate chambers 1.8 internal, 33hz. I have been choking these subs in too large an enclosure and have noticed more musical details in this new setup. I've always loved slot ports, how they look and sound. Needless to say, for all the space I have gained, it is still pretty obnoxious.

Ports don't sound any different if they are not making any noise of their own. the difference you have now isn't the type of port, it's the enclosure size and port tuning.

Yes indeed it is a completely different monster, though the tuning is still around the same.
Aeroports are better for? Sound, SPL, tone??? I will add that a slot ported box adds rigidity without adding extra bracing, which is something an aeroport wont do.

Make me a 6 x 9 aeroport and we'll see which sounds better.

^ an 8" port has almost that area. Two 6" Aerports have almost exactly that area.

I'd bet on the Aeros for more output, smoother base, and less noise. They take up a lot of surface area though, the outer flare diameter of the 6" is over 10" IIRC!

Unless I keep my seats down there isn't much room for external ports (2005 Matrix) anyhow
