Killer deal on oscilloscope
Just letting everyone know about a killer deal on Rigol oscilloscopes at Tequipment.net. Scopes come up in discussions now and then and the conclusion is usually that they are too expensive for hobbiests and students. I have been using the 100MHz one (DS1102E) for a few years now and it's excellent for the price. I actually paid $1000usd so I'm a little jealous over this price. If anyone has any questions I will do my best to answer them. My only complaint with the vendor is they did not stock them at the time so I had to wait a few weeks for my purchase to arrive from an overseas factory. In case anyone is unfamiliar with Rigol they are the OEM for Agilent. Any aspiring EE's should check this out.

for $100??lol |
LOL not a chance. I love it and use it often.

I didnt see anything at first glance, but do these do FFT's aswell?
|
Yes it's also a spectrum analyzer. I will post an FFT screen shot soon so you can see what it's like. From what I remember it's not so good in this regard because the x axis is not well indicated. You have to use the cursors to read the frequency with any accuracy.

Here is a screen shot using the FFT. I put a 3kHz CW on channel 1 which is the yellow trace. The purple is the FFT showing the power response of the wave.

Another showing a screen shot of the software that runs on a PC (optional of course). The communication is through USB cable.
