Hawker Odyssey or Northstar batteries are better than kinetik unless you're going 16 volt.

How much better? and in what respect? it is to replace my Optima #31.

BTW: Thanks for the info.

The Icon 01-19-2007 06:24 AM

I think Ericson signed a contract during CES to import them.. Inside info ;)
Soble also brings them in for Que.

Not so sure on dealers. I have a few there great, no issues.

How do you figure?? .. they're basically the same battery as the Hawkers :sly:

SweetnLow91SC 01-19-2007 01:10 PM

are the Northstar worth considering?

I'm basically looking for a battery that charge up fast and maintain above 12.8v or higher that has large researve capacity. (2hr+ with constant 30A draw)

zzzzzzz 01-19-2007 01:51 PM

http://www.teamshadowspl.com/batteries.php as thay can get you one

better from an SPL sense. Im not too informed when it comes to advantages of different batteries from the SQ side of things but the g31 is a great battery to begin with. I dont think you'll notice much difference if any in your setup unless you do a few burps.

basically the same but not the same. Hawkers are louder. But we're talking a couple tenths more than likely. Certainly not a big difference at all. For most people whatever is cheapest and fits your battery tray easier is the way to go out of the heavy hitter batteries.

g31, kinetik 2000 or 2400, hawker 1700 or 2150, or northstar nsb90 should all bounce back really quickly after a large draw and should be able to take that load for a while. Could just be that your g31 is a bit tired.

The hawker battery is also available in a copycat form from stinger or tsunami.

not looking for the cheapest... just one that performs the best.

Its funny that the Spl'er notice this kind of diff in numbers...... I have done research a while back basically looking for the best SQ batt... to see if there are difference between different technology & designs in batteries, and you'll be surprise what the finding was. and i'm not talking about just the voltage difference either.

The Optima g31 was one of the better ones, but its a bit tired now.. i had it for about two years. Its not that the batt is going bad...... its the voltage is lower then what it used to be. as my system demands min 26amps at idle (no music) so its a bit hard on the batteries for sure.

btw: so who sells Hawkers?

zzzzzzz 01-20-2007 12:30 PM

i think if you asked thay mite get you one (i see on there site if you do not see the bettery you are looking for ask for it )

No... the same, trust me. I used to carry Kinetik and have owned both a 2400 and a 2150.

People have tested the 2150 to be louder than the 2400... but I've also seen tests going the other way. In the end it all depends on the individual battery you get. (ie: one from each brand could be louder than the other)

Yes you are correct Erikson will have them this year and if you can hold out to somewhere in Feb-March then we will be able to get you pricing as they will be in and priced.

i dunno if i belive that. It doesnt take much of a change to make it a totally different battery. Although I suppose it is possible that they are the same judging from the size and casing

Ok.... choose not to believe it. Like I said, I've owned both.

You keep looking at pictures and reviews on the Internet to tell you they're different though. :eyes:

Sorry man I don't work for them I just know the international sales dude for Kinetiks and he happened to drop me some info @ CES.

Previous posts said March.. I'd call direct and ask. when they are selling them or if there is a dealer in your area. I have owned mine for a couple years and I haven't had any issues with them.

FrankB 03-08-2007 08:13 AM

I talked to my rep and no word on batterys yet but they like to grind out the best prices so it mite be a bit :dunno:
