Knu Konceptz KLM Line

Hey guys, just found this site, heard a couple good things about it, actually great things. www.knuconceptz.com .. Just wondering if any1 has tried the KLM line of power wire, i know its the cheapest so its probably not the best, but Im not looking to compete. Ive got an Ultra Linear Amp(requires 1/0 wire) and a 400 rms Kicker comp cvr12. Any ever tried the KLM stuff?should i stay away or just go for it. money is one of the main factors right now for me as i have school in the fall and extremely high insurance lol. Thanks!

it's copper clad aluminun. it's good for the money.

i have 50 feet of blue and 50 feet of white, let me know if you want to buy local and save on shipping and dutties.

each 50 foot peice is $90

I dont think so, thanks tho. Im probably just going to buy the AMP setup kit. I read a review on the CCA stuff, and they say its actually bigger than the normal 1/0, so it is equal in curreent flow.

Father Yuli 04-03-2008 10:50 AM

its not really bigger, its about the same. for your purpose it should be fine either way.

zildjian_4 04-03-2008 02:08 PM

alright thats good, i figured 1/0 of the KLM would be fine since i really only need 400 watts max. Thanks for the help.

LOL, 1/0 for 400 watts??

WHY do that to yourself??

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 03:33 PM

yeah i agree... im runnin 1200 off of 4ga.....

LOWTONEZ 04-06-2008 03:49 PM

i ran 250 rms off 0 gauge, best possible way to get clean current. Voltage never dropped. And yes i know you wont see much voltage drop from 40-60 amps, but bigger is always better when it comes to wire.

df.dima 04-06-2008 04:25 PM

don't forget the upgrade ability aspect :smilie_da

i started off with 300w + 140w rated amps off 0 ga, moved on to almost 1kw to more later in steps...

well the amp calls for 1/0 wire. I thought that if i ran 4 ga it wouldnt be supplying a sufficient ammount of power and would fry the amp or something. I dont know much about this stuff. Am i ok to use 4ga if im only running 400 rms?even if the amp is supposed to be wired with 1/0?thanks

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 08:44 PM

is the amp rated at 400rms? or you saying you only need 400 because of the sub rating?

I havnt seen a 400rms amp wth 1/0 inputs....

and yes it would be good for future expansions, or additions of more amps.. i have 4ga in my car but i am now running 1/0 for the sub amp i will be putting in... im leaving the 4ga in to power my front stage whenever it happens to go in

zildjian_4 04-06-2008 09:33 PM

the amp is rated at 1000 rms @ 1 ohm. 500 rms @ 4 ohm. my sub is 400 rms.
i`m sure 4 ga is a good wire for that amount of wattage but im just afraid that itll fry the amp because the wire is too small. am i way off on this?

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 09:37 PM

ok well that makes more sense then... the amp is capable of more power so it would be best to do the big cable just because well its better... i thought you were running a 400w amp...

this way you add a second sub later or something with a 1ohm load then you dont have to worry about power... so iyes the big wire would be the best choice.. Its just more difficult to run the 4ga thats all...

zildjian_4 04-06-2008 09:39 PM

ok. this is all i plan on doing right now, with probably no future upgrades. ill always be pulling under 400 rms out of the amp. still a good idea to buy 1/0?thanks.

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 09:40 PM

well its never a bad idea... youd be fine with 4ga but you say now it wont go bigger... but we allsay that in the beginning... if its going in what is your avitar then go 1/0 you wont need to much and its just a better idea...

zildjian_4 04-06-2008 09:43 PM

ok. i know, its probably smarter to go with 1/0 because i can always upgrade later on. However, im coming up college this fall and money is becoming a bigger issue as we speak! So if i can save 40 or 50 bucks id like to do that and go with the 4ga as im in college for the new few yrs and shouldnt be spending money on stereo equipment anyways lol.
I just gotta be 100% that running 4ga to the amp wont burn it out or hurt it at all..

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 09:47 PM

well you dont have to buy the expensive stuff... you can get the big shot for cheap at places like princess auto etc... just get welding cable... and its price is close to that of 4ga from a company like stinger etc... then you have the big wire and its really good wire and you didnt have to spend to much :)

zildjian_4 04-06-2008 09:50 PM

does welding wire have to be insulated or anything?Id rather go with stand ppower wire i think tho just for looks. Ive got some stuff fabbed up for it i wouldnt wanna ruin it with some welding wire in there if u know what i mean haha. I found some 1/0 KLM for 3.25, which isnt too bad, but if 4 ga is 1.75, and its all i need, and wont cause problems i think i`ll go with that..

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 09:52 PM

welding cable is fully insulated and meant for outdoor usage... and it doesnt look bad it just isnt transparent and only comes in black hahahaha... but if you wanna be pretty then get the KLM... welding cable goes for about 1.40/ft or something like that....

zildjian_4 04-06-2008 09:57 PM

ok...well ill check out the welding cable this week. If i dont get that, i`ll get 4 g. this is completly ok for the amp correct?

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 10:00 PM

well i dont see why it wouldnt be... more then the power rating of the amp what does it have for fuses? thats what is needed when deciding what to use for wire... is how much power needs to be able to flow through the wire... also larger wire helps to prevent things like dimming headlights....

zildjian_4 04-06-2008 10:09 PM

its got 4 40 amp fuses.

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 10:12 PM

okay and i think most 4ga is rated to 150amp, you wont be drawing that at the imp you are using but it really would be a good idea to use the larger wire... just in case.... its always better safe then standing there watching your ride burn down....

zildjian_4 04-06-2008 10:17 PM

ok, im on the knu konceptz site now, i found a 4 ga amp install kit but they come with little fuses, like 80 or 120.

im gunna keep looking. you scared me with the whole burning down ride thing haha. i`ll check out the 1/0 kit some more, but if i can find a 4ga with a big enuf fuse i`ll do that

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 10:20 PM

yeah you'll be fine with 4ga hahahahaa... if anything the fuse will blow... just get a 125amp inline. and you'll be fine ok :)

zildjian_4 04-06-2008 10:23 PM

haha, im tryin to get this done as the least amount of posts possible but im confused again now haha, isnt 125 way too small?wont it blow everytime i turn it on lol?i thought i need 160, give or take 10

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 10:36 PM

youd need the full 160 if cranked at 1ohm... the 160 is the max that can go through he amp :) for example my last amp had an 80amp fuse in it and i ran it hard enough to over heat it and have it protect a few times... and my inline was 60amp....

the fuse protects the wire more then anything... and because you are not running the amp really hard you wont have a problem...

zildjian_4 04-06-2008 10:42 PM

ok, well that answers my question!!I`ll go for the 4ga kit then, with a 120 amp fuse. thanks for the help!!its very much appreciated!!cheeers!

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 10:43 PM

no prob good luck :) put up some pics when its all done :)

zildjian_4 04-06-2008 10:49 PM

alrighty, its all ordered..heres what i got..
http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KFX-AK44

hopefully 12 ga speaker wire is sufficient, was hoping for 10 but whatever, and hopefully i have no problem with blowing fuses lol..cheers!

Jo-Psyko 04-06-2008 11:02 PM

i use 12 in my car... and well... yes it will be more then fine.... especially for the power you are running....

diamondgoldsilv 04-07-2008 09:08 AM

I think its not really bigger, its about the same. For your purpose it should be fine either way.
