hey i have seen statements that are like "my stereo hit 145 db's legal" what does that mean?? or does it mean anything at all? just curious

It means that the score was with the microphone in the "legal" position as outlined by whatever sanctioning body they follow. i.e. on the dash approximately 12" in from the passenger A-pillar and 3" up the windshield.

A car will generally get a higher score with the mic in the kickpanel corner or a number of other places. OFten a score garnered here will be labelled an 'Outlaw' score.
